Laois  Libraries

Julie Rose has visited Laois Libraries on a number of occasions. For the past few years she has helped us to celebrate Europe Day at Mountmellick Library by putting on wonderful puppet shows for local primary school children. All of the children and staff loved the shows and really enjoyed learning about the origins of European puppetry. Above all though, Julie Rose really entertained us all with some good old fashioned fun. She is so full of energy and enthusiasm for her art form and this comes across in the shows. The wonderful stage that she uses is brilliant because it is high enough to ensure that everyone in the audience can see what is going on at all times.

Last year we booked Julie Rose to deliver some puppet making workshops in the library and these were also a great success. They were ideal for 8 – 12 year olds. The participants learned all about the traditions of puppetry in a fun way and they were able to construct their own puppets. Following on from that they were able then to construct a story and stage a small production. A really worthwhile workshop. We look forward to having her back soon.
